(HUANG Feiqing LIANG Yuming) On June 11, after waiting for over one thousand days, more than three thousand alumni of Classes 2020 and 2021 came back for a make-up commencement.
When the two classes were graduating, the University promised them that we would have a reunion with them after Covid-19 was over. Today we have more alumni coming back than the number registered online.
The University CPC Committee Secretary Huang Shengcheng delivered a welcome message and extended warm greetings to alumni working in different regions of our country. He said that the University is always proud of each and every achievement that our alumni have made: Human Resources Graduate Tan Zhongwei initiated the standardization construction of the grass-roots armed unit and the set-up of a “Rural Revitalization Base” of Siqian Township for his alma mater GZIST, which received a commendation from Shixing County CPC Committee and Government. E-Commerce Graduate Zhang Zifeng joined the Western Region Volunteer Act in Zhijin County of Bijie City, commended as a National Five-Star Volunteer and Outstanding Volunteer of Guizhou Province. International Trade Graduate Lin Shuzhen was awarded by Jiangmen City Public Security Bureau the title “CPC Member Vanguard” and Bronze Medal of “Xinhui District Best Youth”, becoming a delegate of the 15th Guangdong Province Communist Youth League Congress. Human Resources Graduate Li Yuebing created two companies and three cuisine brands, awarded the title Annual Cuisine Figure by Zhaoqing Catering Association. The University sixty thousand alumni have considerably contributed to its excellent reputation and social position by joint efforts and hard work. They have given into full play their knowledge, skills and wisdom, caring so much about the development of their alma mater. The University Alumni Association serves as the bond between the University and alumni, committed to bring out the best for both. Huang Shengcheng called on all alumni to continue to work conscientiously for the University, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and the country.
Faculty representatives Wang Ruyi, Huang Aiqing, Chen Yiping and Shen Yueying, graduates Chen Jian and Huang Farong representing Class of 2020, graduate Xian Tianjiao representing Class of 2021, and Marketing graduate Wu Zehui, talked about their profound love for the University, their aspirations and best wishes.
For the past three years, the University has put the health and safety of the whole community to top priority, while remaining dedicated to high quality development. As a result, the University has made a number of outstanding achievements in securing State Natural Science Foundation and State Social Science Foundation projects, National and Provincial first-class disciplines and research platforms, as well as having been selected as a joint postgraduate program institution among the first batch of Guangdong Province private universities for joint recruitment of Masters students. The Huizhou Boluo Campus will open in September this year admitting the first cohort of students.
This unique commencement will leave a profoundly beautiful impression upon those present and upon all the University alumni and parents.
