On December 1, GZIST hosted 2023 Guangdong Province University and College Academic Program Directors Alliance Conference and Undergraduate Teaching Quality and Reform Symposium, sponsored by Guangdong Province Higher Education Teaching Management Society and Guangdong Province Academic Program Directors Alliance for Application-Oriented Undergraduate Universities and Colleges. Close to 180 directors and representatives from the Province 54 universities and colleges attended the conference.

GZIST President Hu Shejun welcomed all the delegates in his address, reiterating the significance of the theme “Undergraduate Teaching Quality Assurance and Reform” and the agenda of uplifting quality assurance for undergraduate education of Guangdong Province universities and colleges.

Jiang Lin, Director of Higher Education Division of Guangdong Province Department of Education made a report on the province higher education quality assurance for the past two years. She stressed that quality assurance is vital to higher education, particularly in these four areas for the immediate future: strengthen foundational disciplines; develop the most needed talents such as industrial software; cultivate international legal professionals; and foster ocean and pasture specialists.

Vice President Li Jianhua from Guangzhou University of Medical Sciences reported about her institution quality assurance in background, measures and results. Deputy Director Cai Zhongbing from Guangzhou University showcased how academic managers should enhance ideological input into the curriculum, first-class curriculum development and quality assurance. Deputy Section Chief Zhao Qi from Huizhou College elaborated on her “The Five-One Action Plan”, namely quality of specialties, first-class curriculum development, ideological input into the curriculum, teacher teaching and student learning capabilities. Ms Cai Liuqian from Guangdong Province University and College Teaching and Examination Management Center demonstrated the Intelligent-Innovation-Integrated Project Management Platform, showing how such a platform can digitalize and empower education.

Elected new Chairman of the Alliance, Director Yuan Dehui from Hanshan Normal College briefed the member institutions on the next phase work. GZIST was admitted into the Alliance by a unanimous vote of the assembly.
